Serve the City brings together individuals and communities to tackle some of the most pressing social challenges faced by people across the globe. Through various initiatives and programs, the organization has been working to promote social welfare, encourage community engagement and foster a spirit of volunteerism. One of the key events organized by Serve the City each year is the Global Volunteer Day, which is scheduled to take place on May 13th, 2023.
Global Volunteer Day is a unique day-of-action for people from all walks of life to come together and make a positive difference in their communities. It is a day of service that encourages individuals to step out of their comfort zones and engage in activities that help to address some of the most pressing social issues facing their communities. Whether it is through volunteering at a local shelter, cleaning up a park, or organizing a food drive, there are countless ways to get involved and make a difference on this important day. Locally, we will have 4 projects to choose from for your chance to be part of what we hope will be the biggest global serving event of the year.
In addition, Serve the City is encouraging people in cities where STC does not exist to get involved in Global Volunteer Day by organizing local events and initiatives in their communities. The organization is also providing resources and support to help individuals and groups plan and execute successful projects. Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or someone who is new to community service, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a difference on this important day.
For those who are interested in participating in Global Volunteer Day but are unsure of where to start, there are plenty of resources available online. Serve the City has a range of guides and toolkits that provide information on how to plan and execute successful projects, as well as tips on how to engage with your community and build meaningful relationships with those you serve. Serve the City International has prepared a short guide for you to help you starting your first own volunteering project. It includes some easy to realize volunteering ideas and a checklist which helps you prepare your volunteering activity. You can download it here.
In addition to the many benefits that come from volunteering, Global Volunteer Day also provides an opportunity for individuals to connect with like-minded people from around the world. By participating in this event, volunteers can develop new skills, make new friends, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing their communities. So why not get involved this year and see what a difference you can make?
