Right on the heals of our highly successful food delivery project for the families of Newsome Bailey Project students we partnered with LINK, the organization that runs the winter homeless shelter program we support, to make lunches for the homeless. Over the last half of June, 22 volunteers gathered to make over 400 bag lunches for the homeless. We had families, we had seniors, and everyone in between including 9 new volunteers. This project worked out so well we have added it to our Big Volunteer Week in July.
Once again donations of food and money were used to meet a need that had arisen as COVID-19 interrupted the typical programs that those without homes rely on during the best of circumstances – which these are not. A big ‘thank you’ to our volunteers and donors who helped us to continue to spread kindness during an unkind time.
