We have partnered with LINK (the organization behind the PORT winter homeless shelter program) to keep kindness from being canceled by making lunches for the homeless.

There are four dates in June for which you can choose to volunteer to help make 100 bag lunches for the homeless (June 13, 16, 23, & 27).  Lunches will be made between 9:00am and 10:30am at Hilton Baptist Church in Newport News.  Volunteers should park in the back parking lot and enter through the handicap entrance.

All volunteers are asked to wear a face mask to protect themselves and others.  If don’t have a face mask we can provide one.

If you want to help but can’t make lunches, you can participate by donating some of the food items we will need (see the list below). Food can be dropped off at Peninsula Community Chapel (4209 Big Bethel Rd, Yorktown, VA 23693) between 1pm and 2:30pm Wednesdays and Thursdays starting June 11th. We are also accepting monetary donations for this project in order to purchase the needed food items. Just $15 will allow us to make 10 lunches.  All you have to do is click the “Donate” button at the top of this page and note “homeless lunches” for the specific project.*

Items Needed:
Peanut Butter
Fruit – Apples or Oranges
Single Serve Chips
Single Serve Cookies
Gallon Zip Lock Bags
Sandwich Bags
Boxes to transport lunches

*NOTE: Funds in excess of those needed for a specific project may be redirected to other areas.
